The photographer’s top pictures

Here are some of the photos our photographer sent us within a week of the wedding …

Pictures from wed pics

We encouraged our guests to use the Wed Pics app to share photos of the big day. Here’s what they came up with. Many thanks to Jess, Sophie, Chris Storr and Rory amongst others …

Ideas which were not included in the groom’s speech

Mike thinks he had a lot of good ideas for the grooms speech, as he started writing it shortly after proposing. Here are some things which did not make the cut. Do you agree?

  • “Wedding is derived from ‘Wodding’ which is actually an old Germanic wording for ‘ceremony involving but not limited to handing a gremlin to your betrothed’s sister'”
  • ‘If you’ve learnt something and we’ve put a smile on your face then we’ve done what we came to do’ Rick Vernon, TACC9 TV, Kinston NC
  • Giving a shout out to Trello and Prezi, or simply doing the whole speech using Powerpoint
  • A groom’s speech video
  • ‘Looking in Alex’s eyes during Lonestar’s Amazed on Singstar and knowing this was the one’
  • ‘She constantly surprises me with her reactions – they’re normal! Or at least she’s not weirded by me’
  • Quoting Charlie Madge, saying “sorry for not seeing our friends half as much as we’d have liked, but my time with Alex is precious”
  • A ‘Live at the Apollo’ opener name checking and joking about people in the room
  • Linking back to the important songs of our relationship
  • ‘The average naked person’
  • ‘Isn’t nature so natural’
  • Remember Dave the parrot, the stag do participant who didn’t make it
  • More information on the stag do

Parking near the reception venue

Checked your invite and you’re coming to the reception? Awesome ! In which case, you have a couple of options to get from the church to the Trafalgar Tavern. One is the Routemaster bus, another is walking. If you’re going to drive, then do note the details below. Parking near the Trafalgar is metered til 6.30pm on a Saturday, so this will allow you to book ahead.

How to tie a cravat

A handy cut out and keep guide for the groomsmen for what to do with that strange looking contraption around their necks!

Mike’s ‘Doe Do’

On 24 April, Alex and Mike had planned to see the latest Avengers film with Ellie in Brixton.

Ellie had booked a table at a local restaurant beforehand. On arrival however, Mike was greeted by a large group of his female friends – Carolyn (and husband Ali), Bethany, Rachel, Nat and Hayley. They had organised him a female stag – a ‘doe do’!

Alex broke the news that she would not be staying, and there was to be no Avengers that night. Instead Mike was to sit in a bar eating tapas and drinking cocktails surrounded by some of his best friends.

It was AMAZING !!!!!!

What a brilliant and totally unexpected night! Many thanks to Ellie for organising it and all invited for not spilling the beans !

Alex’s Hen Do

On 25 April, Alex and her hens met up in London for a lovely send off. They dined in style with a Fortnum and Mason afternoon tea, laughed at Alex’s guessing abilities with a few games back in Dartmouth Park and finished the night in a local pub talking the night away.

Thanks to Beth O’Brien for organising the party and see you all soon xx

Mike’s stag do

Mike’s best man Seb threw him a stag do 27-29 March in Toulouse. Ably aided by Sam, Ciaran, Joey, Gareth, Jon and Steve, they roamed the southern French streets dressed as pirates, drinking and eating steak. The weekend was amazing, and involved go karting and much Cubanistooooooo

Are you getting on the Routemaster?

‘What are you wearing?’ – one of the perennial wedding guest questions. A key component of fancy attire, as we all know, is footwear. Do you go for snazzy, high, comfortable, or just totally crazy?

In order to allow you this choice and not have to worry about whether your finest shoes can stand a walk or public transport, we have hired a red route master bus. This can transport those attending the evening reception from the church to The Trafalgar Tavern.

We would love to have numbers for the bus ahead of time. If you would like to save your shoes (and possibly your sanity), please let us know by completing the comment box below and we’ll pop you down on the list. There is plenty of space so do join in the fun.
